It shows the prophet Jonah emerging from the belly of the ôgreat fish.ö The Scriptures tell how he found shelter under a gour
d plant, which is depicted here with its yellow fruit hanging all around the prophet. Thus the embroiderer has fused together two successive episodes from the legend within the limited space of the panel.
